Norman, OK (Sports Network) - Oklahoma's top returning basketball player will sit out the Sooners' opening two games this season due to a rules violation, the University announced Tuesday.

Michael Neal, a senior guard from Mesquite, TX, was nabbed for participating in a summer basketball league more than 100 miles from his home. The violation is classified as a secondary offense.

The 6-foot-3, 198 pounder averaged 12.4 points and 2.6 rebounds in 27 games as a junior last year under former head coach Kelvin Sampson.
