Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - Jacob Burtschi scored 21 points, as the 23rd-ranked Air Force Falcons downed the George Washington Colonials, 66-52, in the Cable Car Classic.

Air Force will face Santa Clara in the championship on Friday.

Dan Nwaelele scored 19 points for Air Force (12-1), which had a game scheduled against Northern Colorado on December 23rd, but that contest was postponed because of inclement weather. As a result, the Falcons had not played since December 13th when they knocked off Norfolk State, 70-47, for their seventh straight victory. Matt McCraw added 14 points in the win.

Rob Diggs posted 16 points and 11 rebounds for George Washington (7-3), which had an even longer layoff than Air Force, as the Colonials last played on December 12th when they rolled to victory over UMBC, 72-51. Carl Elliott scored 12 points and Dokun Akingbade and Maureece Rice both added 10 points.

The Colonels edged a 31-30 lead at halftime, but the Falcons scored 10 straight points to open the second capped by a Burtschi layup with 15:50 remaining. GW never seriously threatened thereafter.

The Falcons scored 11-of-25 three-pointers, compared to just 3-for-12 by the Colonels, who shot 22-for-54 from the field. Air Force shot 23-for-46 from the floor.
