Wright leaving Carolina blue for NBA green

Apr 23rd, 2007
Chapel Hill, NC (Sports Network) - Brandan Wright has decided to enter the NBA Draft after just one season at North Carolina.

Wright averaged 14.7 points and 6.2 rebounds -- both second on the team behind Tyler Hansbrough -- in 37 games for the Tar Heels last season. His field goal percentage of 64.6 led the team and was tops in the ACC.

If Wright does not sign with an agent, he has until June 18 to withdraw from the draft and maintain his collegiate eligibility.

North Carolina finished 31-7 during the 2006-07 campaign and won the ACC Tournament before a regional final loss to Georgetown in the NCAA Tournament.

The Tar Heels will have their other three top scorers return for next season, as Hansbrough, Wayne Ellington and Ty Lawson announced earlier this spring that they would return to school.
