As anticipated, the Knicks have shifted yet another cap-sapping starter in anticipation of the summer of LeBron.  By trading Zach Randolph to the Los Angeles Clippers for Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas, New York have put themselves in a position to potentially offer two maximum deals in 2010, at which time LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all hit the market.

In the interim, however, things aren't going to be pretty in MSG.  With the 'Bockers finally starting to turn a corner on the court, fans in NYC can't be happy that management has made a firm commitment to mediocrity for the next season or two.  While it's certainly a decent long-term move given King James' tacit suggestions that he'd be open to playing in the Big Apple, it still chafes a tad to see the team's leading scorer (20.5 ppg) and rebounder (12.5 rpg) leave town for two underwhelming players.

As always, we want to hear what you think about the move.  Does this deal make sense for the Clippers?  Do the Knicks have a real shot at luring LeBron James to town when his deal with the Cavs is up?  Do New York have any chance of making the playoffs this season without Z-Bo manning the middle?

mmmm doesnt really seem like that smart of a move for the clippers. NY u can understand trying to make the run at 'Bron. But seriously, another forward for the clippers? Shouldnt a guard really be in the mix? It pretty much leaves boom dizzle by himself. New york should be alrite in the short term, with Bo leaving, David Lee is finally gonna get some decent minutes

I have to think that Lebron James will be far more interested in moving to Boston or LA. Or sticking around in Cleveland, now that it's becoming a very impressive team. But to think that Lebron James, who more than anything else wants to win a championship, would leave a good team to play with guys that the Cavs just tore to pieces (most of the game without Lebron) in an organization that appears to be clueless is just silly.
