Birdman Investigated For Child Porn.

Chris ‘Birdman’ Andersen’s house was raided by the Douglass County sheriff’s office Thursday looking for child porn.

The Nuggets have “excused” Andersen indefinitely from team functions. This is a nice way of saying they don’t want to have shit to do with the Birdman until they find out if he’s being charged with anything involving child porn. In an NBA that’s constantly trying to portray itself as family friendly, a charge like this would have massive repercussions for Andersen’s future as a player.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ron Hanavan confirmed that the search took place Thursday. Andersen has not been arrested and Hanavan said no arrest warrant has been issued.

The department began investigating Andersen in February after receiving information from a law enforcement agency in California. Hanavan declined to release details, including the nature of any pending charges, citing an ongoing investigation. He said they’re asking that the case be sealed.

Andersen answered the door at his Larkspur, Colo., home, about 40 miles south of Denver, and let deputies in, said Deborah Sherman, another sheriff’s spokesperson. ”He did cooperate. He spoke with deputies,” Sherman said.

The unit investigating Andersen investigates child porn, Internet luring, child predators and child pornography.

How does this impact the Lakers vs. Nuggets series? Not at all. Andersen had yet to see playing time in the series as his spot in the rotation has largely been taken by JaVale McGee and Kenneth Faried. Andersen doesn’t exactly have a spotless record. He missed two season after having failed several drug tests earlier in his career. The leap from drug user to child pornographer his significant though and we hope for everyone’s sake the investigation reveals the Birdman is not involved.
