Lebron James and Dwayne Wade’s Ridiculous Third Quarter

Lebron James and Dwayne Wade’s Ridiculous Third Quarter

Hoopsvibes Very Quick Call:  Without Bosh, James and Wade need to be great.

Lebron James and Dwayne Wade Finally Played Like Lebron James and Dwayne Wade.

In the 3rd quarter of yesterday’s game 3 against the Pacers, the main two of the big three played one of the best quarters of basketball between two players on the same team I have ever seen.

The 3rd quarter has killed the Heat in their two losses against the Pacers this playoff series.  In games 2 and 3, Indiana outscored Miami in the 3rd quarter 54-26.

In the third quarter of yesterday’s game, however, at the hands of Dwayne Wade and Lebron James, two players the world has unrealistically high expectations for, killed the Pacers.  And silenced the critics.

If you’re a fan of basketball and didn’t get a chance to watch, I recommend you do whatever you can to try and get your hands on the video footage from that game.  For the sake of time, fast forward to the 3rd quarter and watch it start to finish.  Trust me, it’s worth it.

Wade and James just went off.

With 10:11 remaining, James made a layup and got fouled to kick things off.  Then made his free throw.  What would ensue after was a barrage of ridiculous plays made by James and Wade.  Here’s how Miami’s scoring continued:

-James hit a floater
-Wade makes a layup on an assist from Lebron
-Wade makes another layup
-Wade dunks it
-Lebron dunks it on an assist from Wade
-Lebron hits two free throws
-Wade hits a three on the assist from James
-Wade makes a layup on another assist from James
-Wade hits a jumpshot
-Wade makes a free throw
-Lebron makes two free throws
-Lebron hits another jumpshot
-Lebron hits a free throw

Finally, Haslem, with a minute and a half left in the 3rd quarter, made two free throws and became the first player other than Wade or James to score a point since the 2:51 mark of the 2nd quarter.

Lebron finished the quarter with 14 points on 4-6 shooting while Wade’s quarter also ended with 14 on a perfect 6-6 from the field.  (Wade would go in to hit 10 consecutive field goals.)

Miami’s 3rd quarter, led by James and Wade, would eventually lead the Heat to a victory in game 4.  Wade would finish with 30 while the reigning MVP James finished with 40 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assists.

Now go watch that 3rd quarter.
