Is Kobe Bryant the Blue Power Ranger?

For those of you fortunate enough not to have heard it yet, the please-let-it-be-a-joke rumour of the day is that Kobe Bryant may play the part of the blue Power Ranger in an upcoming television series. As someone whose entire experience of the Power Rangers consists of being hit in the head by an action figurine of my cousin’s, I’m happily ignorant of the significance of this announcement if, by a million-to-one shot, it happens to contain even a grain of truth. I know it’s not quite up to the level of being cast in a Star Wars flick, but I’ve been told that the Rangers have quite the following nonetheless, consisting of equal parts children and nerds.

Is Kobe Bryant the Blue Power Ranger?

While the likelihood of the “rumoured” tag next to Kobe’s name in the IMDB listing changing to “confirmed” is roughly equal to that of Ron Artest and David Stern eloping to Amsterdam, I felt this report was worth posting simply for being the funniest thing I’ve read in some time. Nonetheless, there remains the minute possibility that KB8 is seeking to complete the restoration of his image by ingratiating himself to parents with young children (and, secondarily, nerds).

If you have any information regarding Kobe Bryant’s potential involvement with Power Rangers: Relic Hunters or how exactly it was that this rumour originated, let us know by dropping a comment.
