Greg Oden Visits Portland Trail Blazer Practice Facility, Brandon Roy Acknowledges Heel Problems

While this was going on, more scary news trickled out about Portland’s other young star, Brandon Roy. Last year, the athletic guard won rookie of the year despite missing the first quarter of the season with a heel injury. Now that heel is acting up again …

Oregonian Reporter Jason Quick updates  Brandon Roy’s status with  the Portland Trail Blazers:

"It snuck up on me a little bit this summer,” Roy said, saying it was the same pain, in the same area, that caused him to miss 20 of the team’s first 25 games last season. "I had to come down (to Portland) and get treatment.”

My Quick Take: Yesterday, Greg Oden visited the Blazers practice facility. He hobbled around the gym on his crutches and once again showed his maturity by putting on a brave face. Good luck to the big man.

Unfortunately, his heel is acting up again. Roy and the club insist everything is fine. But I get the feeling an ominous west coast rain cloud is hanging over the Blazers’ season. After all, they have had plenty of bad luck/bad news and it’s only September.

Hopefully, Roy stays healthy. Last year, he showed flashes of brilliance and seemed poised to take another step in 2007-08.

How will Roy do next year? Get at us in the comment box below with your thoughts.
