NBA Schedule For November 15th, 2007

  • San Antonio @ Dallas
  • Chicago @ Phoenix

Our pick as ‘Must-See’ game: San Antonio @ Dallas.

Why: The Spurs and Mavericks’ battle for Texas will always be personal. After all, Dallas owner Mark Cuban raised the stakes when he wore a shirt mocking San Antonio’s river. Dissing the river city’s river is a no-no.

San Antonio and Dallas are both excellent teams, but they handle their business in very different ways.

The Spurs are professional, understated, and damn good. They’ve captured four NBA Titles in nine years and are considered by many to be a dynasty.

The Mavericks are inconsistent, passionate, and full of championship potential. Two years ago, they came close to winning their first NBA Title. But last year, after a stellar regular season, they lost to the Warriors in the first round of the playoffs.

This evening must be interesting for San Antonio guard Michael Finley. Of course, Fin’ was Dallas’ franchise two-guard before his game slightly tailed off and Cuban exercised a special salary cap clause to basically buy him out of his contract.

The former All-Star became a free agent, signed with the Spurs, and finally won an NBA Title last season. Recently, Cuban has commented on bringing Finley back to Dallas once his contract expires.

Bottom line: one state with two excellent basketball teams. Tonight’s game should be interesting.
