Riley brought him in, so it's his own fault he better deal with it. Why would you give a declining guy that's often hurt, $20 million a year. Riley put the team in bad shape by throwing older high priced players together. DWade is the one that carried them in the finals, so was the trades he made even worth it anyway? I guess that's debateable. Anyway Riley is too old-school and is losing touch on how to communicate with players today. Shaq is dropping off badly each season and should hang it up after next season. Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports on a possible feud developing between Shaquille O'Neal and Pat Riley:
Last week, before the Heat began this six-game western swing that included Thursday's late game against the Trail Blazers, Riley got into a spat with O'Neal and attempted to banish the center from practice. Only when backup center Alonzo Mourning intervened was the tension defused.My Very Quick Take: Type-A taskmasters and gregarious pranksters will always clash, especially when their team is losing like the Washington Generals. Their relationship had been in trouble for some time. In training camp, Riley declared that Shaq should only get half his salary because he plays half the season. A month ago, Riley called-out his big center, questioning his play to reporters, and revoking his superstar status. Shaq, instead of gathering reporters and giving himself a new nickname or making fun of Riley’s oiled-out dome, meekly agreed with his coach. But the old school sideline boss must be careful. The Heat mortgaged the future for their 2006 NBA Title and won’t be able to trade O’Neal’s lucrative contract. For better or worse, Riley’s is stuck with his center. The heat should keep losing so they can get a nice young talent to play with DWade in the future. Plus Miami sports collectively look bad. Dolphins winless, heat below average, the marlins gave away their two franchise players for potential. Something must be in the water down there that's causing bad decisions and bad play LOL! report abuse

Same old Shaq; it's all about himself, never his fault, no commitment, and motivation. Now he's finding out he is no longer the man like he always wants to be. It's over, the Heat will be better off without him. I am longtime Laker fan and I enjoy watching the Lakers now without all the crap from Shaq. That is even with the Lakers losing. Kobe may have his flaws, but no one can question his commitment and will to win. report abuse
