Strong gets stronger: Lakers trade Radmanovic's contract, more moves coming?Breaking news mixed with analysis …

Their News: ”The Charlotte Bobcats traded managing partner Michael Jordan‘s first draft pick on Saturday, sending struggling forward Adam Morrison and reserve guard Shannon Brown to the Los Angeles Lakers for forward Vladimir Radmanovic.(ESPN news via Associated Press)

Our Very Quick Analysis: Yesterday, Los Angeles and Charlotte exchanged problems in a three-player trade that will help the purple-and-gold’s bean counters.

In dealing Vladimir Radmanovic for Adam Morrison and Shannon Brown, the Lakers saved approximately seventeen million dollars. The Serbian has two more years on his six million dollar per year pact, which doubles since the club is over the salary cap and in the luxury tax zone. Morrison and Brown’s deals expire at season’s end.

This trade provides Mitch Kupchak with options. The GM can use his newfound salary space to re-sign useful role player Trevor Ariza and/or sixth-man Lamar Odom. Then there is the possibility of another move. Remember, the Lakers recently lost Andrew Bynum and could use a fill-in at the five-spot.

After years of under-performing, underachieving, and even a freak snowboarding injury, Radmanovic finally helped the Lakers. And, with this deal, the strong become stronger.
