 Right now, two dunks are the talk of the NBA.The first came on Thursday when Dwyane Wade’s Miami Heat took on LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers. Wade, who is already in mid-season form, dribbled the length of the floor and dunked on Anderson Varejao with such ferocity the seven-foot super-pest fell into the basket’s protective cushions. The play was so impressive broadcasters, for a moment, stopped discussing Wade and James' pending free agency and actually focused on the game. The second took place during yesterday’s rematch of the 2009 Western Conference Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers. During the final stages of the Nuggets’ blowout win, rookie Ty Lawson got free off a high screen and promptly packed it on posts Josh Powell and DJ Mbenga. D-Wade will get more votes because it's D-Wade... people know him and have preset hard ons for everything he does. Lawson is a rookie who hasn't made a name for himself. It should be the opposite. Everyone knows D-Wade can dunk like that. Who knew the 5'11" Lawson could do that? Plus he took it to TWO players who both have combined almost two feet in height over him. Wade didn't have to do anything but take a run straight at the basket, and his momentum was easily enough for a 220 pound player to knock over a guy standing still...that is nowhere near as impressive as beating two guys on the perimeter, then knifing through the lane and posterizing a 7 footer and a 6'9" guy when you're only 5'11" at best. Wade's dunk also benefits from a more impressive camera angle, which adds to its wow factor, but Lawson dunking on two guys a foot or more taller than him after threading the defense is clearly superior. report abuse

The Lawson dunk is the one I prefer, mostly because he NEVER did anything like that in college. You could count his total college dunks on one hand. I saw every single minute he played in college, many of them live, and I was absolutely shocked as I sat there watching him dunk on the 7' Mbenga.Youngwade5: I could barely understand what you were typing, but you seemed to suggest that Mbenga isn't seven feet tall. I don't know why you said that. It was ignorant. He is definitely a seven footer, and you could've known that if you were willing to take the time (what, three seconds?) to look at their roster.I agree that, if Lawson wasn't probably five inches shorter than Wade, Wade's dunk would be more impressive. Youngwade ur a dumbazz. Wat vid r u watching saying dat Lawson pulled Mbenga'a arm down. I read ur comment and watched da vid like 4 times and didnt see any arm pulling from Lawson. I play bball myself and I'm 6 feet. I have had in game dunks but neva dunked on anyone. Do u kno how hard it is for lil guards 2 drive into da paint and try 2 get a shot off on people jus 6'6 and up? Then to dunk on them??? I kno we all love D wade but I expect him 2 do wat he did 2 Anderson. We all kno Anderson is soft. Wade had a clear lane and had momentum by going from one end of da court to da other. Lawson broke 2 defenders down in a half court-set and dunked ova 2 big men with their hands extended.
