Why no respect for Deron Williams?
This is a travesty; a farce, an injustice, and a curb stomp to boot.
Looking at the first returns of all star votes and the general opinion of Deron Williams still remains: who is he and what does he do? 94,715 people believe in this stud, but the rest of the NBA is somewhat oblivious to the man’s game. What does D-Wills have to do to garner more recognition for his excellence? He was the third pick in the draft. Check. He rebounded and improved drastically after a forgettable rookie year. Check. He helped guide Utah into the playoffs making it all the way to the Western Conference Finals against Tim Duncan’s San Antonio Spurs in 2007. Check. He has become a perennial 20 points, 10 assists fantasy machine. Check. Among basketball aficionados, Williams is a top 3 point guard in the NBA. Check. His game is fun to watch. Check. He keeps his beard neatly trimmed. Check.
What does he have to do?
Tracy McGrady did not play at all and still managed to be trailing Kobe Bryant in votes for Western guards. What the hell happened? There better not be this excuse that he plays in a tiny market called Utah. So what? Last time I checked, Utah Jazz games are still broadcasted on TNT, ESPN, and ABC nationwide. How come this guy is underappreciated? This is the point guard’s 5th season and there are no All Star appearances tallied. I’m going to ask again. How did this abomination occur?
D-Wills cannot be in as an All Star starter because Kobe and Steve Nash, or Chris Paul, will usually take those spots. He should have been a reserve then. Coaches around the league are usually more knowledgeable than the typical fan with the bench so why hasn’t he been in any? Through 24 games, the averages are 20.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 10.3 assists, 48.5 percent from the field, and 75 percent from the charity stripe. Deron is currently out performing Jason Kidd, Steve Nash and Brandon Roy. This is pathetic. No more excuses. I’ve heard enough.

He also received a Player of the Week award from the NBA along with Rodney Stuckey. The momentum has to keep going. Look, I understand that he has to fight against the popularity of Jason Kidd, Kobe, Steve Nash, Chris Paul, Chauncey Billups, (apparently) Tracy McGrady, and Brandon Roy. That’s fine. Again, last time I checked there are only 2 other point guards capable of averaging 20 points and 10 assists; Chris Paul and Steve Nash. That’s a lot of top notch guards for the Western squad. You can’t have a bench of midgets running around. There has to be some big men so naturally some guards will not make the cut. I’m predicting that Deron Williams will get snubbed once again for the 3rd time in a row. Please vote the man end before he ends up looking like Street Fighter IV’s “Rufus.”
Somebody please tell me why D.Williams gets no respect?
