Spain, Lithuania, Argentina and Turkey advance at Worlds

Saitama, Japan (Basketball News) - Spain, Lithuania, Argentina and Turkey were second-round winners Saturday at the World Basketball Championships in Japan and have advanced to the quarterfinals.

The United States, which finished undefeated in round-robin action, will play its second-round game on Sunday against Australia.

Spain moved on with an 87-75 victory over Serbia & Montenegro. Pau Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Spaniards, who were 5-0 in group play and will next face Lithuania on Tuesday.

Lithuania earned a 71-68 win over Italy.

Argentina cruised to a 79-62 triumph over New Zealand. Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs poured in 28 points for Argentina, which also finished pool play at 5-0.

Next up for the Argentines will be Turkey on Tuesday. Turkey advanced to the quarterfinals with a 90-84 win over Slovenia.

In addition to the U.S. second-round game on Sunday, Greece will face China, France will take on Angola and Germany will square off against Nigeria.
