Andrea Bargnani won’t play for Italy at FIBA World Championships

The Italian Basketball Federation on Friday announced that Andrea Bargnani will not play for Italy at the FIBA World Championship in Japan. The tournament is set to take place on August 19 through September 3. Bargnani, the first pick of the 2006 draft, is currently in Las Vegas, playing in the summer league for the Toronto Raptors.

The seven-footer is focusing on learning english and completing, with help of his agent, all the paperwork required to leave in canada.
