Nike Zoom Kobe 3 - Lower Merion HS Player Edition

Model : Nike Zoom Kobe 3 (Lower Merion HS Player Edition)
Release Date : ?
Price : $?
After a few less than impressive colourways, the Zoom Kobe 3 has finally been blessed with a scheme that lets the sneaker's unique design shine. Although the "PERSONALIZED FOR KOBE BRYANT" note implies that this shoe will only be found in Mamba's closet, there's still a small chance it'll make its way into stores. As ever, we'll be right there with the news if a release date is set.

Nike Air Pippen I (1) Retro Black/Varsity Red/White

Model : Nike Air Pippen I (1) Retro (Black/Varsity Red/White)
Release Date : August 2008
Price : $160
Some will say that $160 is a little steep for these kicks, but I'll definitely be digging deep to cop them in August. Then again, I'm a little fonder of the shoe than most since it was the third basketball sneaker I ever owned, following the Fila Muscleball and the Jordan XII, for the record. While the design may have dated somewhat, memories of Scottie Pippen clowning cats left and right with these as his ride will be enough to endear this shoe to hoops fans.

Rendering of Nike Zoom Lebron VI (6)

Model : Nike Zoom Lebron VI (rendering)
Release Date : Unknown as yet
Price : Unknown as yet
After an uninspiring effort with the LeBron V, the folks at Nike have gone back to the drawing board and come up with something a little more contemporary for the VI. While the final sneaker will likely end up a touch chunkier than the sleek, angular rendering, it'll be a real looker if it's anything like these preliminary designs. Besides the IV (which weighed roughly the same as a mid-size sedan with a barrel of bricks in the back), none of King James' shoes have come close to matching up to his game, so here's hoping the designers can follow through on these early sketches and give LBJ the kicks he deserves.

Jordan Men's Melo M4

Model : Jordan Melo M4 (Black/Metallic Silver/White)
Release Date : Already available
Price : $119.99
The people were waiting for a colourway like this on the M4, and now that it's out it should have no problem selling. With an inoffensive black/white scheme that highlights its bold, almost triangular profile, the model is a little easier on the eye than others in the line even if it still very much favours function over form. Still, with a separated heel and a modification of the pod system that debuted in the Jordan XX in the forefoot, you can forgive the M4 for being a little rugged in appearance. What's more, at a mere 14.4 ounces it's as skinny as a supermodel even if not as aesthetically pleasing.

Nike Zoom LeBron V (5) Mr. Basketball Edition

Model : Nike Zoom LeBron V (5) Mr. Basketball Edition
Release Date : Unknown as yet, but apparently soon
Price : Unknown
Other : Limited release
Although certainly not as striking as the LeBron IV NYC Edition, it's the sharpest design of all the colourways of the V. With a two-tone toe that evokes the Scarface Air Force Ones, prominent stitching and an ankle strap studded with silver square designs, this is a shoe that's not afraid to be bold. Throw in a whole host of names, dates, stats and phrases significant to LeBron's life, and the overall aesthetic is eye-catching, to say the least. Numbers are limited, so keep your eyes open if you're looking to pick up a pair.

Air Jordan CP Chris Paul - White/Black/Energy/Bright Goldenrod

Model : Air Jordan CP Chris Paul (White/Black/Energy/Bright Goldenrod)
Release Date : Already available online, March 1 in stores
Price : $115
Evidently, "energy" is the new term for teal, and "bright goldenrod" is how Brand Jordan is referring to gold these days. In case you're about to hit up Wikipedia, the Goldenrod is a flower of the genus Solidago . Don't ever say you don't learn anything from KicksVibe, kids.
While the white/silver/varsity red colourway may be a little dull for most tastes, this is perhaps a tad overstated, unless, that is, you're planning to rock them with your Hornets jersey. I'm not sure I'm sold on the garish patterns that gives this shoe its distinct appearance, but the air unit peeking out of the heel is a nice touch, and a curiously understated feature in an otherwise gaudy design.

Air Jordan CP Chris Paul - White/Silver/Varsity Red

Model : Air Jordan CP Chris Paul (White/Silver/Varsity Red)
Release Date : Already available online, March 1 in stores
Price : $115
A functional sneaker it may be, but I really can't say much for the colourway. Throw grey, white and red together in any combination, and I'm thinking less casual sophistication and more Pee-wee Herman. If you heard what that dude gets up to in his spare time, you'll probably be as disinclined as I am to copy his steez.
Still, with a sleek profile and the traction you'd expect from a Brand Jordan sneaker, you could do worse for your money if you're seeking a pair of kicks for your on-court activities. If you're looking for something to throw together with jeans and a polo, though, you might want to drop your cash on something a little more pleasing to the eye.

Nike Retro CB34 Charles Barkley White/Black/Carrot Orange

Model : Nike Retro CB34 Charles Barkley (White/Black/Carrot Orange)
Release Date : Early April
Price : Unknown as yet, but pre
Oh, how I've waited for this shoe. Everything about it is as brash and unrefined as Charles Barkley himself, and you can't help but love the sneaker for it. As a kid nicknamed "Sir Charles" (which is worked into the design of the sole) by my teammates, I damn near went nuts looking for these, but they just weren't to be found in my corner of the globe. Now that I'll finally get the chance to buy some, I'm liable to go nuts and take a few pairs home with me.
As if the bold blend of colours on this kick wasn't enough to set it apart from the crowd, the CB34 also features an exposed air unit, hiking boot-style laces and oversized ventilation perforations throughout. They'll be making their way onto shelves in early April, and if initial responses are anything to go by, they should fly off them.
What do you all think? Is it a bold, fun sneaker or clumsy design that doesn't stand up next to the Nike signature sneakers of today? Let me know in the comment box below.
