Nike Hyperdunk Colors

Model : Nike Hyperdunk - Dark Obsidian/White-University Blue and White/Metallic Gold-White
Release Date : Some already available
Price : Varies -
Even though the Mamba himself shelved these in favour of his Zoom Kobe 3 sneakers, early reviews of the Hyperdunk have been unequivocally positive. At an absurd thirteen ounces (even my beloved Huarache 2K5 is heavier) and with what is apparently decent cushioning and traction, this one looks like a winner. Cop yours using the links above.

Model : Nike Zoom LeBron Soldier 2 - China Edition
Release Date : Samples already out
Price : Varies by colourway -
With LeBron in the midst of the playoffs and the Olympics mere months away, it seems an appropriate time to release this China-inspired colourway. While you'd be lucky to find this exact version at the moment, other editions of the Soldier 2 are widely available online and in stores.

Nike Air Yeezy

Much like his music, Kanye West's signature sneaker is heavily reliant on sampled elements, and this new image traces the origin of the features that combine to form the Nike Air Yeezy. Shoes cited as inspiration include the Ato Cow Hide Boot (forefoot strap and tongue), Bape Roadsta (toebox) and the Air Jordan III (toecap, outsole and visible air unit). I can also see a little of the Air Jordan V in the shape of the tongue, and the overall profile looks to be based on the LeBron III.

This bastard offspring of the Air Shake N'Destrukt and Charles Barkley's signature CB 34 combines the rugged profile of the former with the design detail of the latter. With three sharp colourways and a price tag fitting of a mongrel, you can expect the Sharkley to move quickly from the stores to the streets in the coming weeks.

Nike Zoom BB II Low (Black / White - Varsity Royal)

Model : Nike Zoom BB II Low (Black / White (Find it Now on eBay)
While I've yet to try out the Nike Zoom BB II, its popularity among NBA players suggests that it's a solid performance shoe. Although this low version does look perilously minimal, it should provide enough support for the point guards among you with intact ankles. The first colourway to be released was the inoffensive scheme pictured below, but word is that it'll be available for customisation on Nike iD in the near future.

Model : Air Jordan Melo M4 Player Edition (Stealth/Orange Peel)
Release Date : April 2008
Price : If you have to ask, you can't afford it. (Find it Now on eBay)
Nike's House of Hoops receives yet another exclusive P.E., this time a grey/white/orange colourway of Carmelo Anthony's signature shoe. As always, when numbers are limited, prices are astronomical, so expect to part ways with at least two c-notes for a pair of these on eBay. That is, if you can find them.

Nike Huarache '08 Player Editions

Model : Nike Huarache ’08 (Player Editions)
Release Date : Already out
Price : $200 online
Other : Sold out at the Harlem House of Hoops on first day.
Given my fondness for the Huarache 2K5 (I've declared it the best performance basketball shoe ever made on more than one occasion), I'm naturally excited to see that Nike has released colourways for the '08 that don't make me want to choke out the designers . While these particular editions were limited to a run of forty-eight at the NYC House of Hoops, it suggests that more general release colour schemes are on the way, and that's good news for my fellow Huarache fanatics. Pictured below are the Deron Williams, Lamar Odom, Tony Parker player editions, as well as a New York Knicks special.

Nike Air Raid Retro (Black/Medium Grey/White)

Model : Nike Air Raid Retro (Black/Medium Grey/White)
Release Date : Spring
Price : $95
What do the early nineties mean to you? Bad music? Worse hair? Semi-short shorts? Well, Nike is hoping to jog your memory with the retro release of the Air Raid, a sneaker with the brawn of Mike Tyson and the looks of, well, Mike Tyson. Still, the shoe makes up for its functional fugliness by being one of the ruggedest pieces of footwear in history. With a chunky, durable sole and "FOR OUTDOOR USE ONLY" proudly emblazoned on the heel, the Air Raid is allegedly the only thing capable of surviving a nuclear explosion intact other than cockroaches and my mother's meatloaf. Ninety-five bones may seem a little steep for a kick with so little to brag about in the looks department, but it's worth that much for the fact that you'll need a hip replacement before you need another pair of sneakers for summer hoops.
