Uh-oh, Arroyo.  The Heat guard was arrested Friday morning during a traffic stop in the Coral Gables suburb of Miami for failure to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest without violence.  It turns out that the feisty point was spotted driving unusually by an unmarked police vehicle, then refused to pull over when an officer on a marked motorbike identified himself.  Arroyo then further incriminated himself when he refused to get out of the car and resisted being handcuffed.

Here's the report from the five-oh:

"A Coral Gables Police Department detective operating an unmarked unit observed a vehicle impeding the flow of traffic. After monitoring this driver for several blocks, the CGPD detective became concerned with the driver's behavior and the safety of the public. He then requested that a marked police unit respond to the area to conduct a traffic stop.

"A uniformed marked police motorcyclist made numerous attempts to stop the subject vehicle with negative results. Eventually, the driver did pull over but continued to disobey the lawful order to exit his vehicle. Additional units were requested due to the unwillingness of the driver to comply with the officer's lawful orders. The driver eventually exited the vehicle. While being taken into police custody, the driver attempted to resist being handcuffed."

Carlos Arroyo released this statement on the matter last night:

"I was in my car on the way to practice this morning when I was stopped by the police. This incident led to me being arrested for the very first time in my life. I sincerely apologize to my fans, family, the Miami Heat and the entire South Florida community for the negative publicity that has arisen from this morning's events. I am confident that once all of the facts come out in a court of law, this matter will be resolved in my favor."

So, what in the world went down?  Why was Carlos driving so slowly that he held up traffic?  Why was he showing noticeable scratches and bruises in his arrest photo?  It's a strange situation for a guy with such a good reputation to find himself in.  Let us know if you have any theories or insider information by dropping a comment below.
