The countdown to ABCD is one of the truly nerve-wracking times in a young baller’s life. No matter how good their local roundball scene may be, the Reebok ABCD Camp in July is a lifetime milestone. Other camps have good players each year, but something about ABCD has a sense of destiny to it. Here, good players are inspired - and challenged - to become great players in the pressure cooker atmosphere of sensational prospects from everywhere. These kids are the ones with the potential, the raw skills, the court presence, the game-altering leadership. And this is the gateway so many of today’s top players have passed through. Players who make Sportscenter and the major newspapers and magazines all through the season. The ones getting magazine covers in high school.

on 03.24.2007 | Hello, I was wondering if seniors of 2007 are still able to go to the ABCD camp? If so, i know that you have to be invited so i’ll try to in the least amount of time tell you my situation. I was pretty much on my way as far as being one of the elite basketball players in my state...but since Katrina hit i ended up going to a school that wasnt really accepting anymore players on their team. My senior year ( this year ) I lead my team in points ( 24.7) steals (2.3) and assists ( 8.8) in Cla-------3.A ,we lost in the first round of the playoffs unfortunately..but every one fought hard so i wasnt mad at anyone( we lost by 9 ). Anyway i know this letter is getting long but i just want to sort of paint a picture. To wrap this up,,, I have had a great senior season and i have been a good leader as well. The only problem is since my school never went to any big tournaments i was never able to really get any scouts to look at me and see my "game". I would be very disappointed to have to try to walk on somewhere when i know that if I could be seen I could be signed with someone. I have the grades and all requirements that i need.Im not trying to sound full of my self, I just know my potential and my capabilities. So if there is anyway possible that i can get invited to this camp it would be a blessing..if I dont then maybe it just wasnt meant to be ...but i believe it is because i know God doesnt give people talents if he doesnt want to use them. My name is Lonnie, people round where i live call me whtieboy, kids at my local basketball court look up to me. i played for a christian league and its over now. i dont go to school so im not on a school team. i am one of the best 16 year olds near me.im about 5’7, 140 pounds.I love for my team to depend on me because i can get the job done. on 03.15.2007 | to start it off im a 9th grader and basketball has been my getaway for years. i took over my j.v. squad wit 13 points,9 boards, 3 steals, and 3 dimes. i led my all star team to state bt its not enough, i feel ABCD can improve my game to perfection. im 5’8 165lbs. players take my height as a joke bt when i crash boards i feel 6’11. im a nonstop worker and known through parks cuz of my D and Boards. all i need is a shot. . | Posted by
