| | Considered two of the best and most exciting players ever, Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins first faced off against each other in this classic college contest between Georgia and North Carolina. In 1982, the Tar Heels were on their way to the first National Championship in Dean Smith’s career. Carolina was led by James Worthy, Sam Perkins and Jordan. Georgia was led by Wilkins, in what would be his last season in Athens. The Bulldogs finished the season 19-12, losing to Purdue in the NIT. Despite a "double-double" effort by Wilkins, the Tar Heels prevail 66-57 in this game. Carolina is led by James Worthy’s 19 points and Sam Perkins’ 15 points. |
