Allan Houston Too Classy For New York Knicks, Should Consider Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, & Miami Heat

October 06 07

The New York Daily News reports on Allan Houston likely re-signing with the Knicks:

Allan Houston is leaning toward rejoining the Knicks but likely will wait until tomorrow before making a final decision, according to a person close to the veteran shooting guard.
My Quick Take: I’m sure Houston feels like he owes his former team. Back in the day, the two-guard was Madison Square Gardens, knocking down jumpers to the delight of the home fans. The Knicks also stuck by him through his injuries, honoring his $20 million per year contract. So I can appreciate this example of player-team loyalty, especially in the cut-throat world of pro sports.

But I have one thing to say to Houston: don’t do it. Don’t join the dysfunctional circus that is currently the New York Knicks. Loyalty is nice. But you aren’t indebted to James Dolan and Isiah Thomas. You don’t owe them anything.

Besides, the Dolan-Thomas combo is creating too much drama to have a legit shot at an NBA Title. After their summer in the tabloids, fans probably forgot the Knicks play basketball. Changes are coming. The league may step-in. And the rest of the Dolan clan has to be concerned with James’ management tactics.

If Houston’s comeback is about winning, then he should look elsewhere. The Nets are an option. Right now, I’m watching the Celtics- Raptors in pre-season play. The green-and-white could use another outside-gunner. And I could see the vet adding depth to the Pistons’ bench.

The only place I don’t want to see Houston is back in New York. He won’t win an NBA Title. And the veteran has too much class for the current regime running/ruining the Knicks.

For a second, I thought Zeke had lost his mind. Fortunately, we now find out that the Knicks are only bringing Allan Houston into camp with a non-guaranteed contract, and that’s only because Houston is a personal friend of Dolan.Houston...the dude can’t even spell defense, let alone play it. .

Allan Houston stinks. He was washed up 5 years ago, and he was never any good in the first place. What do the Knicks need this clown for? .

Allan Houston was a steady basketball player when healthy, I would love to see Allan back in New York draining those pretty jumpers. Welcome Back Allan, show these new breed Knicks how to win. .

wtf is houston thinking? wanting to go back to the knicks? in their current state? that’s ridiculous, the knicks are going through way too many issues and have not played well at all...the addition of z.r. is not going to help as much as people would like to think...houston has a chance to play with the nets, and for him, that would be the best option in the east, unless the C’s decide they want him .

HEY big "v" DON’T GET UPSET THAT ALLAN IS LOOKING ELSEWHERE...REMEMBER ONE OF HIS FIRST TEAMS HE WAS LOOKING TO PLAY FOR WHEN COMING OUT OF RETIREMENT WAS THE SILVER AND BLACK...NOT ANY TEAM FROM THE east...IF HE WAS HEALTHY HE WOULD RUNNING UP AND DOWN THE COURT WITH THE SILVER AND BLACK RIGHT NOW...BUT HIS BODY IS HOLDING HIM BACK NOW AND REMEMBER YOU HAVE TO PLAY BOTH SIDES OF THE BASKETBALL HERE TO PLAY FOR THIS CLUB...NO DEFENSE...NO CHAMPIONSHIP...5 IN 08’ .

Shut up you idiot. You don’t know anything about loyalty. If the man feels loyal to his team who are you to tell him to do otherwise. Just another hater. Get lost with this garbage. By the way, the Nets suck and let’s not jump the gun and give Boston the trophy quite yet. Oh and Miami is finished. .

ALLAN HOUSTON WOULD BE A GREAT FIT FOR THE SILVER AND BLACK BUT HIS HEALTH IS QUESTIONABLE AND THAT MIGHT HURT MORE THAN HELP OUR TEAM...BEFORE ALL THE HEALTH ISSUES HE DEFINITELY WOULD AN ASSET...HE WOULD WASTE HIS TIME IN NEW YORK AND DETROIT WELL THEY WON’T MAKE IT TO THE FINALS UNLESS MORE SHAKEUP HAPPENS IN THE MOTOR CITY...AS FOR THE CELTICS MAYBE...BUT THE HEAT ARE ONLY A ONE STAR TEAM NOW AND WHO KNOWS IF WADE WILL BE BACK TO A 100 PERCENT THIS YEAR... .

Go to Detroit Baby and win a championship with us. We miss you in Mo-Town. But since you want to be close to your family go to the NETS. I agree you’re too classy to be apart of the crazy knicks organization .

despite my inexplicable love 4 teh Knicks he shouldn’t go there. Veterans join the team that has got a strong core. Since NY doesn’t have one then Houston could only go to NY to shoot around and keep his shape. I agree with comment below...go to Boston...but keep Detroit in mind. .
