Another NBA Flip-Flop; Ron Artest With Sacramento Kings Or New York Knicks?

The NBA is into flip-flops. No, I’m not referring to summertime ’kicks.’ I’m referring to the newest trend amongst players and coaches, who have been changing their minds about where to ply their trade.

Recently, there have been three very public flip-flops. Billy Donovan went back-and-forth between Orlando and Florida. Kobe Bryant asked for a trade, changed his mind, and then asked for a trade again. Of course, there’s Ron Artest. The forward can’t decide between staying in Sacramento and pushing for a trade to his hometown of New York.

Artest’s situation is interesting. NBA GMs are crazy about his game, but aren’t crazy about his so-called craziness.

Isiah Thomas, the Knicks’ GM, seems willing to take a chance on Artest. There are two perspectives on Zeke’s interest.

On the one hand, he deserves credit. Thomas is constantly investigating ways to improve his team. Artest, the player, can help, so he’s talking to the Kings.

On the other hand, Thomas needs to consider team chemistry. They’ve already got Stephon Marbury, Eddy Curry, and Zach Randolph. Now he wants to bring in Artest. How many strong personalities can one team handle?

I’m not sure about Artest returning to The Big Apple. Sure, the forward gets into trouble, but I don’t think he’s a bad guy-just misdirected. Could he handle the distractions of home and the nightlife of New York? 

Artest should stop flip-flopping and stay in Sacramento-even if it’s not trendy.
