Chris Webber-Don Nelson Reunion With Golden State Warriors No Joke

January 25 08

The Sacramento Bee reports on Chris Webber possibly returning to Golden State:

Word on the street says Warriors coach Don Nelson has been seen at Chris Webber’s Natomas restaurant, Center Court with C-Webb, twice recently. That only could mean Webber and Nelson are considering the completion of the ultimate full circle and a Webber return to Golden State. They beefed big-time 14 years ago while both were with the Warriors, but perhaps it is true that time heals all wounds, even gashes. Stay tuned.

My AM Take: When I first saw this rumor I thought it was a joke. Perhaps, it was April Fools Day. Perhaps, I’d been punk’d.

There’s no way Chris Webber returns to Golden State with Don Nelson coaching, right? These two have had beef for fifteen years. Their saga makes Shaq and Kobe’s past pettiness look like, well, past pettiness.

So, not wanting to appear gullible or the victim of some cruel prank, I ignored this story and went about my day. Businesses as usual; don’t believe the hype.

Still, I couldn’t get it out my mind … Webber back with the Warriors, huh? Could their cold war be ending?

The answer is yes. The Webber-Nelson beef could soon be squashed and a reunion is possible. Here’s why:

Come playoff time, Golden State could be forced into a slower, half-court game. Enter Webber’s dime-dropping skills. His passing from the power-forward spot would help the offense and provide Nelson with another mismatch.

Webber and Nelson both love the spotlight. They’re known for feuding/making mistakes and then making amends. Webber has spent his career apologizing for off-court transgressions, while Nelson reconciled with Warriors’ owner Chris Cohan before returning to the team.

So this is typical Webber and Nelson. Each is winding down their career. And each would love to right this chapter from their past before retiring.

A Webber-Nelson reunion isn’t a joke. No April Fools Day. No punk’d. It could happen.

Well fellas, like it or not Webber is coming back home, and why not?The Dub’s always have given us great stories in the last couple of years and this is one more. Y’all should have seen it coming. For all the haters who say he’s done, remember there’s building blocks and pieces. Really, all they need C-Webb is for flow in the halfcourt offense. Help on the boards. More depth, with no long term committments. Basically, about 20 minutes, 7-10 rebounds, 5-10 points. He’s last years avgs on a much more defensive minded team. Plus a promise to never have Tyra Banks anywhere near the Oracle. .

Curious, why when the discusion came up about the allstar lineup they preview the players doing moves on the Knicks. Is that suppose to be some great achievement. Why not just show them making moves on teams throughout the league. They claim the knicks are so bad, why not show them making moves on a varsity team. I mean if your not a constant follower than you might see a clip of Yao dunking on Curry and feel worse about the knicks if that’s possible for some of you. I guess if they had to justify why Yao didn’t make it to the allstar they would have shown Nates leap into his face to block his shot under the basket. I guess reality can be anything you want it to be. It depends on the audience.Clyde was Much more tolerable in this game. Even though he reserves his dishing and swishing remarks for the oppisite team, despite a few that were made by Crawford, Robinson and I think even Zach made a good move to the basket. .

Freddy dumb choice, he wont work with the lakers. Yeah yeah he can pa-------and the triangle blah blah, but golden state isnt contending? with him they have a legit shot, do u remember last yr they beat dallas, BEST team in the west, the that was supposed to win it. With don nelson, and bdiddy, jackson and add c-webb and hes the missing ingredient, they need a big center or pf who can pass. Everyone on there team is freaks athleticly so its not like him being a little slow is going to mess things up. I think GS is the perfect choice, and hes going to do it in the next few days. .

Chris Webber to date is still my favorite Power Forward of All-TIme. During his time in Sacramento I felt that was his chance to when a title. At one point they had the best starting line up in the league Webber, Bibby, Peja, Christie, Divac and Miller and B.Jackson off the bench they just could never get passed the Lakers. Webber if your going to win a title go to Boston. It’s obvious they’re going to make it to the conference finals and probably against Detroit where they’ll most likely win. If you go to Boston you’ll make it to the Finals on the top team in the league. Your chances of finally getting your ring will be at it’s best. Just think..Kevin, Paul, Ray, and Chris Webber all on the same team. There was one point where KG and CW were the most dominant power forwards in the league. They had epic battles against each other. Webber if your seeing this go to Boston where you’ll get your ring. .

First I love Chris Webber and i don’t understand why he has no team this year.C webb still has something left in the tank pretty sure of that but that would be a big mistake for Chris to go back to Oakland.Firt because this is probably his last season & Golden state is not a title contender!!i would suggest him the Lakers!!i guess that would be the best fit for him with a consequent playing time!!Chris go to the lakers you’ll have a chance to win a title...c-Webb you’re the best man!!Freddy from France .
