Cleveland Cavaliers Must Give LeBron James More Than Cedric Simmons

September 30 07
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports on the Cavaliers making a minor trade:
The Cavs traded guard David Wesley and cash considerations to the New Orleans Hornets for 6-9 forward Cedric Simmons.
My Quick Take: LeBron James was probably rehearsing for Saturday Night Live when his Cavaliers pulled off this ’blockbuster’ for Cedric Simmons. The King probably wanted to add a few curse words to his version of Starship’s We Built This City or that R. Kelly number.

I’m not trying to degrade Simmons. But Cleveland’s one off-season trade doesn’t amount to much when compared to the wheeling-and-dealing of other Eastern Conference clubs.

Boston re-tooled their entire team, adding Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Eddie House, and James Posey. The Magic signed Rashard Lewis. The Pistons re-signed Chauncey Billups and added a pair of solid rookies to their bench. The Knicks, despite spending the summer in court and and downplaying eccentric outbursts from Stephon Marbury, found time to acquire Zach Randolph.

So James can’t be happy. After all, two of his main running mates, Sasha Pavlovic and Anderson Varejao, are without deals for next season. And both could end up toiling in the European leagues, especially when you consider the money overseas clubs are offering. If this happens, the Cavs lose two key contributors without getting anyone in return. Sure, the club gets a bit of cap space, but they probably wouldn’t re-invest that money in new players.

Bottom line: Cleveland must do more to support their superstar.

Yall might not agree with me onn this one but the Cavs should trade with the Kings for a number of reasons. They should trade Hughes and Ilgauskas For Miller and Bibby. The kings need a big center to match up in the west, which "Z" will match up well with "Yao" and they will also recieve a trapping PG in Hughes. They will not to depend on his scoring with the young stud in K. MartThe Cavs need a scoring PG in Bibby and a big who can shoot "miller". I think this trade would helpboth teams. This is gonna be a year to remember if the right moves are made. .
