Del Negro to Coach Bulls

June 09 08
After a month and a half of speculation, rumor and conjecture, Vinny Del Negro is the new coach of the Chicago Bulls. Reportedly. We’ll see if this one holds up better than the other rumored hirings.

In case you’re wondering, Del Negro has no coaching experience. He is currently the assistant GM for the Suns, who filled a coaching vacancy of their own over the weekend. Apparently the Suns didn’t think he was worth a chance but the Bulls did.

How do you feel, Chicago fans? Is this a good hire? Did you want someone with experience or are you OK with a rookie running the team? Does this temper your short-term expectations for the team?

Lets see if I have this straight. The Suns need a coach so they ignore De Negro and the Bulls hire him. The Pistons need a coach and they ignore Porter and the Suns hire him. If these guys are so qualified, why is it that the people who know them best hire someone else? .

Role players make the best coaches, rarely do you see superstar coaches have much success. Larry Bird was pretty good, but burnt out too quickly. This might not be that bad, it’s time for a change. Plus we all got to start somewhere. he was a longtime nba vet, it’s not like he came from another sport to try and coach them .

Well, Im not particularly a Bulls fan, but I grew up during the golden years of the Spurs and have fond memories of watching Del Negro be the bada-------of the squad from the stands with my dad. I know nothing of his post-player professional experience in the NBA, and transitioning from Asst. GM to Head Coach should be interesting. Go Vinnie! .

"we are not talking about bird, jordan?" in case you know something about the nba, jordan is one of the worst team-managers there are....and bird cant even keep his team of off drugs, guns, and ho’s.....please.....coaches and good players.....WHOLE different thing. And del negro is a good speaker, a motivator: fun fact: i used to be a ball/towel/gatorade boy for the spurs when i was 12, you know kicking it to the admiral when the ball was out of bounds in warm-ups, giving him a "not too cold" gatorade...aah the exciting memoriesi have of getting screamed on by avery johnson ( the most annoying player on the WHOLE team) because i swung a towel to his head when he wasnt paying attention enough to catch it .. And vinnie was always the nicest guy. He seemed to be shy, but sometimes he opened his mouth and all hell broke loose!!!!! (it was still the best job i have ever had but it lasted only for twenty three games, thanks to my aunt who was then (re)married to a minority owner of the spurs, big ol ’Stan Gasner). Nevertheless, vinnie will have a tough time in chitown....i mean larry hughes? talkin bout overrated..... .

Seriously what a joke! This guy has never coached in his life...not ever. The Bulls are a train wreck. Enjoy your one and done Vinny...Paxon will surely be out the door as well after this one. What a waste...get the 1st pick in the draft and then hire someone with zero experience to guide him...we are not talking about Larry Bird here, or Michael Jordan....we are talking about Vinny Del Negro! The Suns were smart enough NOT to hire him...so what does that tell you. .
