Don’t Count On Cleveland Cavaliers & LeBron James Acquiring Jason KiddFebruary 03 08  My AM Take: LeBron James wants Jason Kidd. Cleveland’s fans want Kidd. The Cavaliers’ front office wants Kidd. Heck, I want Mr. Triple-Double in Ohio, too. But wanting and having are different things; in reality, Cleveland probably lacks the assets to acquire the All-Star from the New Jersey Nets. First, the Nets -with Vince Carter scheduled to earn 46 million dollars over the next 3 seasons- need cap relief. Yet, Cleveland has no expiring contracts to offer, so New Jersey would have to take the Cavs’ bad contracts ( Larry Hughes, Eric Snow, and Donyell Marshall come to mind ) to make any trade work. This won’t happen. Second, the Nets want young talent for Kidd. The Cavaliers possess a pair of promising players in post Anderson Varejao and combo guard ’Boobie’ Gibson. But Varejao can’t be traded because he recently inked a three year, 16 million dollar deal. Third, the Cavaliers have options at point guard. Sure, Kidd remains the best option, but Andre Miller and Mike Bibby are available at a cheaper price. Miller makes half Kidd’s salary; while Bibby has one full year left on his deal for 14.5 million dollars. Fourth, the Nets have another suitor-the Dallas Mavericks. Contrary to what their owner says, Team Cuban is interested in Kidd. And they’ve got young talent to offer in Devin Harris. Kidd and James together in Cleveland. It has a ring to it. And stat-guys would be busy tracking their rebounds, dimes, and points. Unfortuantely, it seems unlikely.

on 02.6.2008 | Look! Kidd should want a ring just as bad as Lebron and everyone in northeast Ohio, therefore he should be willing to give up a few dollars in salary to get onto a team with Lebron. If he gives up some cash and the Cavs give up Hughes, Snow and Donyell they should be able to work a deal. Keep Gibson, keep Andy and keep Gooden, do this and dominate when playoff time comes. on 02.5.2008 | if you trade for kidd and get rid of gooden, we’ll be short because of andy’s injury, then we have donyell, simmons, and dwyane jones to work with. get rid of gibson. whose the back up point??hmm. damon jones. please. 3rd string at best. trading for jason kidd would tear this team apart. no salary cap relief there. if this trade were to happen, i believe we would be worse off than we are now. we would have no bench if boobie left. no rebounding machine in gooden. and i like devin brown. he shows a lot of hustle and heart and i believe we need him out there. he does all of the little things and clean up work that scott pollard was supposed to do last year. i would get rid of damon jones. and larry if there were any takers. i think we have a very good team when healthy. especially with LARRY HUGHES at point. . | Posted by

Now KOBE’s organization made a SUPER TRADE and with that HUGE FRONT LINE with GREAT DEFENSE the LAKERS should be playing for the NBA Championship for the next few years. To compete LeBron needs his organization to make a BIG MOVE NOW or else we all must face him leaving for a team that can compete with the LAKERS.So, the ball is in Danny Ferry’s court. on 02.5.2008 | This is definitely Danny Ferry’s chance at earning repsect as a GM and proving that he does belong and can get it done with King LeBron. Remember, with Michael Jordan the organization made great moes and got him a sorruounding cast. Cavs have a good team but a HUGE PROBLEM in Larry Hughes. Somehow,( and I admit I do not know enough about the inner workings on a NBA trade to call the shot) Danny Ferry must get it done. Look athe LAKERS...they will be knocking on the door FOR SURE...great front line, great defense, KOBE, spells Championship. Cleveland has NO CHANCE without someone like KIDD to compete.
