H20 Thinking Comeback

June 10 08
This is a special feature by guest blogger Christopher Sells.

Reportedly, former Knick Allan Houston, he of the Allan Houston Rule and one of the most overpaid players ever, wants to play ball again. Professionally. Even after his failed comeback from last season. Really.

These older guys have got to learn to let it go. If you weren’t playing well at 33, why on Earth do you think you could do so at 37? I know 37-year-olds who are just happy to be able to get out of bed every day. And they’re not even rich. Houston wants to put this all on the line for what? Dignity? Pride?

Those are good things to believe in, but where will they get him? Waived by another team during training camp and left with egg on his face again. Let it go, H20. Take the money you earned (disputably) while playing and go have a nice life. Maybe get into coaching, maybe radio or TV so you can still earn a living.

Let all of the rest of us try to remember the days when you were a useful two guard on some competitive teams. That gets harder to do every time you try to step on the court, only to rediscover that the past is still the past.

if he can play at the nba level then let him play. Writers should not hate on nba players too much, it makes you look jealous... .

I don’t see anything wrong with him wanting to make a comeback, why there is so much hate from writers and some fans is beyond me. Let the man live his life, it doesn’t affect you in any way. Al still loves the game, and never left on his own terms. People are always saying what somebody else should do, well how about YOU (who are against his comeback) MIND YOUR BUSINESS?? Doesn’t feel so good being told what YOU should do huh? Another thing, stop worrying about another mans money, that’s stuff chicks do. .

man, instead of respecting guys for just having love for the game,.......i always enjoy watching comebacks: i never understood the criticism: players cant comeback cause they cant score 20 a game anymore??? I’d take houstons shot over 80 % in the league...closure indeed.... .

Allan Houston Come On Down!

P.J. Brown, Sam Cassell, and others are contributing. Being old is doesn’t mean you can’t contribute, even if you have been out the game for awhile. Allan almost joined the Celtics, they could use another 3 point shooter to go with Ray, and Eddie .

If he wants to try to comeback, there is nothing wrong with that. If you got laid off from writing, when you may have a little something to contribute. You would try to comeback if it’s something you love, and felt you ended the wrong way. That is respectable. If he doesn’t make it, oh well, he’s already made millions and had a solid career, atleast he tried and doesn;t have to wonder what if, anymore. It’s called closure. .
