High School days revisited: Kobe Bryant versus LeBron James

September 11 08

Last March, I ran a series called high school days. The purpose was simple: take the most popular head-to-head NBA comparisons back to prep school.

We looked at many match-ups and, of course, got a huge response for Kobe Bryant versus LeBron James.

For fun, with the NBA season approaching, I thought it would be fun to re-visit this comparison and take another look at their best high school clips. The talent is obvious.

Enjoy,

Oly.

Message boards, chat rooms, and water coolers are split on whether Kobe Bryant or LeBron James is the NBA’s best player.

Simply put, this debate divides fans. Half support Bryant because of his superb skill-set. The others back James based on his physical gifts and athleticism.

Of course, there is no middle ground. Bryant and James polarize like Manchester United, the New York Yankees, and ‘Dubya’ rolled in one.

Instead of drawing conclusions from both players’ most-recent stats, I decided to look back. Bryant and James each enjoyed storied high school careers and then jumped straight to the NBA.

No NCAA Tournament. No march madness. Just sink or swim in the pros. Obviously, Bryant and James swum like Olympic champions, developing into the game’s brightest stars.

Still, watching their formative years is fun. As always, check out the clips, form an opinion and give us your impression on Bryant and James’ days as prep stars.

Kobe Bryant, Lower Merion High School …

LeBron James, St. Mary/St. Vincent High School …

kobe of course labron to over rated the media just makes him look as good, he can’t match kobes abilities kobe has done it all...Kobe still number 1 as long as his still in the NBA, so labron just sit back and wait till kobes gone .

Vote For Ralph Nader, that is the real change For America. LeBron James is not yet the best player in the game. He does have Kobe beat as far as H.S. goes .

Fu*k this sh*t, U call yourself a writer. No creativity, a couple paragraphs you bum off others, and youtube video clips. You’ll be stuck here forever, no NBA.com. SI, ESPN, Foxsports, SportsNews, or any other sports outlet. I am sure this will be erased cuz this site always erases negativity towards them. You can talk about others but when it comes to you, you’re quick to hit the delete button. It’s a damn shame. I guess it’s no longer freedom of speech especially on the internet .

kobe is definitely the better player for the past 5 years in the nba. his shooting posture and skill set is unmatched in the history of the nba. mj was good but he cant handle the ball or shoot from anywhere on the floor like kobe .
