How Greg Oden Is Living: Walking His Dog, Rehab, & Pulling An MTV Cribs

November 27 07

Throughout the 2007-08 season, HoopsVibe The Blog has been giving readers a glimpse into the lives of NBA Stars. How I’m Living isn’t about exposing or embarrassing anyone; in fact, our goal is to highlight a player’s lifestyle away from the hardwood.

Out last edition dropped the details on Steve Nash’s passion for soccer. Today, we’re heading north to Rip City and checking-up on blue-chipper Greg Oden.

Greg Oden (1st season, Portland Trail Blazers)

Day Job: You know his story. After getting drafted first overall last June, Oden was diagnosed with a microfracture tear and will sit for the entire 2007-8 season.

Instead of fulfilling his life-long dream of playing in the NBA, Oden is dealing with the routine of rehab.

"Wake up. Walk my dog. I eat a bowl of cereal. I come here," Oden said. "Eat a plate of fruit and drink a protein shake. I do my rehab. Just sit on the table, watch TV and do my knee stuff. Lifts and strengthening up my quads. Then I go in the pool. Then I go eat lunch." (Scripps news)

How I’m Living Skill: Oden pulls a Robin Leach and gives the all-time greatest tour of an athlete’s house. Of course, the tour is before he bought his palatial crib in Portland, so you get a look at the real Oden.

Nothing is funnier than an athlete claiming Cookie Crisp cereal and refusing to show the camera his mother’s room “because she’ll kill me”. Hopefully, Oden gets back on-court soon and entertains us with his play.
