Jason Kidd’s Trade Request Puts Pressure On Cleveland Cavaliers

January 29 08

My AM Take: Jason Kidd finally confirmed the worst secret in pro sports: he wants out of New Jersey and has asked the Nets to trade him:

"Sometimes, when you ride a wave, you get to the end and that’s all there is. That’s where we are," Kidd said in the interview.

"It used to be if I got a triple-double, that was an automatic win. That’s just not the case now. We tried to make this work. We’ve found out it doesn’t. It’s time for us all to move on.’’  (New York Post)

Something was lost in yesterday’s hoopla, overshadowed by the unofficial becoming official. Last summer, as members of Team USA, Kidd and Cleveland superstar LeBron James discussed playing together.

The two established a chemistry on and off the court and began dreaming about playing together in the NBA. In November, Kidd told Sports Illustrated that he and James have had ’’a little talk’’ about playing together with the Cavs. (Akron Beacon)

Cavalier GM Danny Ferry must keep James happy by trying to acquire Kidd. After all, The King holds the ultimate ace of spades-an early opt-out clause after the 2010-2011 season.

Ferry must attempt to acquire Kidd because James is watching. If the Cavs don’t make an effort, then they’ll have a disappointed superstar on their hands.

Jason Kidd’s trade request has upped the stakes in New Jersey and Cleveland. The next few months should be interesting.

i really gotta say that some of u guys really suck...i mean who writes "LeBron Is a M#&*^#F*&%(# beast. U suck you lil queer!" - r u kiddin me, can’t be serious man. big d by the way...what the hell is wrong with u?add cavs % kidd:i think if the cavs can acquire him they should but not in exchange for gibson ilgauskas or gooden! they’ve quite a solid team now and they should keep that up. they could trade larry hughes cause he is lacking consistence since he plays for the cavs.i hope bynum makes a good recovery and is back in march, so the lakers can roll .

The Cavaliers are already the best team in the NBA. Remember playoffs is what counts. They will beat the Lakers in the finals. .

The Cavs are back on track with only 1 loss (2 points) in 2008. I just wonder who they would trade for Kidd. BYE BYE BOOBIE .

Kidd should go to Dallas and not to the one hit wonder cavs! LeBron is a great player but having kidd will not help them win the chapionship. .

NJ will at least get in return 2 of Hughes, Gibson, or big Z. Cav will definitely be a better team but i don’t know about being close to Boston unless Boston start sucking, which they kinda have been giving signs. I am a BIG VC fan but i don’t think vc helps jkidd as much as jkidd helps carter. jkidd is much fit for run and gun and carter doesn’t really feel for it. .

if the cavs got jason kidd, they would be a team almost comparible to the celtics. i aint saying kidd is the best, but he is good, and lebron is good. and the cavs also gots ilgauskas, and in my opinion he one of the best centers besides big ben wallace. so, yeah, i think kidd would be a good change for cleveland. .
