Kobe Bryant Will ’Stab You In The Heart’

NBA broadcasters have signature lines. Marv Albert coined ‘yes’, while Raptor play-by-play man Chuck Swirsky celebrates a victory with “break out the salami and cheese”. ESPN’s Bill Walton gets by on sarcasm, while his colleague, Stephen A. Smith, is just opinionated.

I usually enjoy the Lakers’ broadcast team of analyst Stu Lantz and colour man Joel Myers. Most of the time, they’re insightful.

However, I’m not sure of Lantz’s choice of words during last Wednesday’s Lakers-Trail Blazers game. I believe he was trying to describe Kobe Bryant’s killer instinct.

"See, that’s one thing I like about that #24: When he gets you on life support, he won’t give you mouth-to-mouth. He pulls the plug. A lot of guys get you on mouth-to-mouth — I mean on life support — they wanna hug and kiss and ... revive ya. Kobe says, ’Not havin’ it. I get ya there, I’m stabbin’ ya in the heart.’
