Portland Trail Blazers Win The Draft Lottery, Will Settle Greg Oden Or Kevin Durant DebateMay 22 07 The Portland Trail Blazers have won the lottery. But instead of winning money, the Blazers now have the right to draft a future NBA superstar. On Tuesday, Portland won the NBA draft lottery ceremony and will use their first overall pick to settle the Greg Oden or Kevin Durant debate. The Blazers, who were represented at the lottery by reigning rookie of the year Brandon Roy, had just a 5.3% chance of winning the number one pick. Roy feels both Oden and Durant have the skills to make an immediate impact. "They’re going to help us right away," the talented guard said. "They can come into the NBA right away and play. I’m just excited about sitting back and knowing our general manager has the choice of drafting either Kevin Durant or Greg Oden. Either one, you can’t go wrong. So I’m excited we have the opportunity to choose between the two." (ESPN) Greg Oden, a back-to-the basket center, will likely be the first overall pick. Kevin Durant, an exciting perimeter forward, will likely go second to the Seattle Supersonics. The NBA draft is June 28th in Madison Square Garden, New York.
