Steve Nash’s Training Day, Kobe Bryant’s Hurdle, or Michael Jordan’s Legend?April 12 08 ![]() My love of basketball commercials started with Spike Lee writing, directing, and starring in the Michael Jordan-Mars Blackman ads. Those spots were not just creative and funny, but they changed how people viewed basketball shoes. After that ad, shoes stopped being shoes. They were status items, evolving into The Kick culture, which HoopsVibe’s CYE covers so effectively. Fast forward twenty years and sneaker ads still shine with their ingenuity and creativity. Recently, three spots have stood out: Steve Nash in Do you have a favorite? As always, watch all three clips, form an opinion, and hit us off in the comment box with their thoughts. Nash’s NYC Training Day ... Bryant Jumping Cars … The Lowdown: The Net is buzzing on whether Bryant actually jumped a car. He didn’t. Oh well. At least, Bryant is enjoying life after last summer’s meltdown. Brand Jordan’s Become Legendary… The Lowdown: His Airness narrating. Derek Jeter. Ray Allen. Carmelo Anthony. Yeah, it gives me goose bumps. Our favorite: Brand Jordan’s Become Legendary. Why: This ad oozes nostalgia. The old footage works. The dream of reaching your potential is what’s being sold, the shoes are secondary. What ad do you prefer? Get at us in the comment box below.
