The Summer Of New York Knick Guard Stephon Marbury

Today I posted on the off-season’s biggest stories: the Eastern Conference’s comeback, Kevin Garnett joining the Celtics, Team USA throwing down in Vegas, the Kobe drama, and the Tim Donaghy scandal.

I intentionally left Stephon Marbury off this list because Starbury made so many headlines he deserves his own individual post. Many of his comments got blown out of proportion, but they sure are entertaining. So, ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Summer of Steph ...

Headline 1: Can I get an Ay-men on Zach Randolph.

Headline 2: Defending Michael Vick (Marbury later clarified his comments).

"I think it’s tough.I think, you know, we don’t say anything about people who shoot deer or shoot other animals. You know, from what I hear, dogfighting is a sport. It’s just behind closed doors."

I think it’s tough that we build Michael Vick up and then we break him down. I think he’s one of the superb athletes, and he’s a good human being. I just think that he fell into a bad situation."

Headline 5: Balling In Italy.

"This will be my 12th season in the league. When my contract is up in two years, I want to go play overseas in Italy and retire over there. Berman has the story in today’s Post, but I’d like to explain it further.

I want to do the same thing for basketball and spread the Starbury Movement so people all around the world can benefit. I want to make things affordable for everybody."
