Video: A Preview of Michael Jordan’s Hall of Fame Display

August 05 09

Michael Jordan won six NBA championships, captured every individual award, and transcended basketball by becoming the world’s most identifiable person.

How do you honour him? How do you recognize his contributions to basketball for future generations?

Well, the Basketball Hall of Fame is attempting to do exactly that through opening a Jordan display one month before he’s officially inducted in a September ceremony. The display was financed by Brand Jordan and highlights #23’s career.

Watch the clip and let us know how you would honour Jordan in the comment box below?

Hi folks. Thanks for commenting. Allnet 38: I get what you are saying. Sure, it’s a Nike ploy, and normally I’d have mixed feelings about a company influencing the Basketball Hall of Fame. However, as you mention, Jordan’s legacy is very much tied to Nike in that he revolutionized the celeb-spokesperson role. His influence was as big on-court as the sneaker/co-orperate game. So I guess I’m okay with it. But yes, the best way to show MJ love is to bust out a highlight tape. Okay eyes on me: Jordan never won 6th man of the year. But he won everything else. Remember, though, he did come off the bench with the Wizards -if you count that as part of his career. Thanks for commenting folks. .

I hate to be a downer but EVERY individual award, i don’t think he won 6th man, and why would he of, nobody in the right mind would start MJ on the bench when he was prime. MJ’s A leg .

i’m not really a fan of exhibitions. they are sad. mike was without doubt the most magnificent and influential player of nba history. an exhibition with shoes, jersies etc is a shallow insult to his legacy; it is definitely no honour. i believe that this is simply a marketing strategy of nike, nothing more nothing less. if people want to remember his prime they shoukd simply get one of his highlight tapes and enjoy. i hate to see michael’s legend being exploited by nike, the nba or whosoever! he was the reason for millions of kids to play the game of basketball. no other athlete ever had a status like air jordan. he is mr basketball. mike you are the best! ’90,’91, ’92, ’96, ’97, ’98 -> legendary! .
