What Kobe Bryant, Chris Bosh, Kevin Garnett, Steve Nash, & Tony Parker Have In Common

September 23 07

The Boston Globe reports on Kevin Garnett reacting to news the Celtics landed Arsenal-Sunderland tickets:

So imagine the big guy’s reaction (Garnett) when coach Doc Rivers unveiled plans for the second leg of the Celtics’ exhibition trip to Europe — including the first week in Rome and the second in London.

It seems that Rivers secured tickets for the team that second week to a game between the Premier League’s best team, Arsenal, and Sunderland.

“Arsenal?” a stunned Garnett, sounding like a CYO kid offered tickets to a Celtics-Pistons game, asked of his new coach. “Did you say Arsenaaaal?"

My Quick Take: Tony Parker chills with childhood chum Theirry Henri. Chris Bosh wants season tickets to Toronto FC, while Steve Nash plays pick-up footie with New York’s MLS club. And Kobe Bryant hangs with Brazilian star Ronaldinho.

Now Kevin Garnett has come out of the soccer closet, admitting that he follows the English Premier League.

NBA players used to dream of being rappers. Now they aspire to play the beautiful game. I know. This is a basketball website and readers are probably cursing my love of soccer.

Fair enough. I won’t say anything else-except it’s interesting how NBA stars can relate to the movement and timing of soccer. This is what my two favorite sports have in common.

Hopefully, Garnett caught this morning’s EPL action between Manchester United and Chelsea. If so, The Big Ticket should realize that poor officiating isn’t limited to just the NBA.

Basketball stars are interested in soccer because they see how it is hard to be good in soccer (compared to basketball). I wish that MARADONA is still playing. Man United fan .

haha..."Premier League’s best team, Arsenal". You’re damn right they’re the best team! NBA players might prefer Chelsea matches though...a half empty Stamford Bridge will give them lots of leg room! .

Wasn’t Garnett at an L.A. Galaxy game this season? I’m certain the ESPN cameras showed him during one of the games when Beckham was playing. Also, Steve Nash’s brother plays soccer professionaly in Vancouver. .
