Why Chris Bosh, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade won’t sign with Sacramento in 2010

September 07 08

NBA News mixed with analysis:

Their News: Everyone’s talking about the Nets and Knicks, but on the low, the Kings are making moves to clear up a lot of cap space in 2010. At the moment, there’s only going to be three guaranteed salaries on Sacramento’s payroll that year — Kevin Martin ($11.1 million), Beno UdrihJohn Salmons ($5.8M) — and the rest of the Maloof’s money will be available if they wanna make a run at LeBron, D-Wade, Chris Bosh and the rest of that summer’s free agents. ($6.6M) and (Dimemag.com, Fox Sports)

Our Quick Analysis: It’s true. Quietly, the Kings have been hoarding cap space. In two years, they’ll chase mega free agents like Chris Bosh, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade.

Their efforts will be in vain. Sacramento won’t get a chance to bring out the welcome mat for any of the Team USA trio.

The Kings have plenty to offer, starting with money. The franchise will have the cap space to tender a max contract. And the two men signing the checks, Joe and Gavin Maloof, are considered the NBA’s best owners. Of course, Kevin Martin is an up-and-coming star.

But location is the major problem. I’m referring to Sacramento’s conference, not their market size or so-called ‘country’ lifestyle. Bosh, James, and Wade realize their best chance at winning an NBA Title is in the Eastern Conference, not the competitive west.

If these three change teams, they’ll still stay out east, away from L.A., San Antonio, New Orleans and the other half dozen squads competing for a playoff birth and spot in the NBA Finals.

The Kings are in the middle of an impressive rebuilding effort. But they’ll have to add to their roster via trade because Bosh, James, or Wade probably won’t change conferences in July of 2010.

Could the big three, ’CB4’, ’King James’, or ’Flash’, sign with Sacramento? Get at us in the comment box and come back to HoopsVibe the Blog for more NBA tidbits. Photo courtesy of Brad J.

Hi there, thanks for reading and commenting. Sure, Sacramento could sign a megastar and then another star, but then they may be capped-out in terms of adding pieces around those building blocks. Just a thought. Thanks for reading and commenting. .

Disagree. This is very much a story. Seeing where big name free agents will land, dude. No way the west becomes the new east, not a chance, kid, not a chance. Golden Strate won fitty and still make playoffs kid!!! .

The west is gonna become the new east! By 2010, I wouldn’t be surprised if stars go to Sac for the same reason you just gave. .
