Will Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, & Detroit Pistons Get Bored Or Win NBA Title?April 14 08 ![]() The AM Take Presents a quick-hit playoff preview for the Detroit Pistons ... Record: 56-23, 2nd in the Eastern Conference.Strengths: If Boston has the The Big Three, then Detroit has The Big Four. For years, Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace, Rip Hamilton, and Tayshaun Prince have carried Motown. In a gotta-get-mine business like the NBA, Detroit’s foursome unselfishly accepts their role. Billups is the floor general, the one responsible for taking and making big shots. His backcourt mate, Hamilton, is a pogo stick of energy, bouncing off screens to set-up his outside stroke. Wallace does a bit of everything, while Prince is the lockdown specialist. Unlike past seasons, the starters have help. Jason Maxiell and Amir Johnson are striaght athletes. Rodney Stuckey, Jarvis Hayes, and Juan Dixon all contribute. Then there are the silverbacks: Theo Ratliff and Lindsey Hunter. Weaknesses: This group gets distracted. And their annual trips to the Eastern Conference Finals has only produced one NBA Title. With a stacked Boston side, the Pistons can’t get complacent or bored. X-Factor: Jason Maxiell. Potential be damned. The Pistons need his scoring if they’re to push deep into the second season. Status: NBA Title contenders. Detroit must stay focused and not look past opponents.
