Would Phil Jackson tell Steve Nash, Andrei Kirilenko, Chris Anderson, Chris Kaman, and Anderson Varejao to cut their hair?

September 27 09
With 10 NBA Titles under his belt, coach Phil Jackson has so much pull with players he could probably get them to change hairstyles.

Well, actually …

Recently, the ‘Zen-Master’ asked Los Angeles Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic to cut his Euro locks because he hoped it would improve his performance.
“Last year, Sasha got injured on the first day of training camp and it literally limited him for three weeks. So he got off to a bad start and never recovered. So we’ve asked him to cut his hair and he did. He’s going to have a new look. I think it’s a total fresh start. I think Sasha played with his hair more than he played on the court (last season).” (Quote found on Slam.com)
Jackson has a point. Vujacic struggled last year and, perhaps, quaffing ’The Lid’ on a nightly basis was a distraction. This got HoopsVibe The Blog thinking of other NBA players the Hall of Fame sideline boss would send to the barber shop if they donned the purple-and-gold.

Steve Nash …

Jackson wouldn’t stand for Nash’s alt’ rock look, even if the two-time MVP is a Canadian hippie who actually gives back and cares about others.

(Nash and his Oasis hairdo on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.)

Andrei Kirilenko and Chris Anderson ….

Nothing wrong with a little product, but ‘AK-47’ and ‘Birdman’ Anderson dip their domes in more gel than oil slick bench-boss Pat Riley, who, by the way, is a long-time Jackson nemesis.

(Check out Kirilenko’s slick back in this intense interview.)

Chris Kaman …

Currently, the Los Angeles Clippers’ post has a weird buzz cut. However, Jackson would have surely been offended by Kaman’s old party-at-the-back, business-at-the-front mullet.

(What would Jackson have said about Bono’s old school mullet?)

Anderson Varejao …

Jackson would take issue with Varejao pulling a ’Sideshow Bob’ from The Simpsons.

(Guilty on the hair. Not guilty on the gas, though!)

It’s real mess’d up wat happen to that yung man in chicago. No reason for them to beat him to death but u know wat,wat can u expect. This s---is gettin real old, times is changing but not quick enough. Blair n the people who killed him is both products of a system that starts u off poor, uneducated n tell you to make something of yourself.I know there’s sum that make it out the hood but to most its to much to handle. The fuck’d up thing about it is that the children dont ask to be put in this situation, its just wats handed to them.So who do you blame? The Parents?Yea,i’ll give them some of the blame, but how did they end up in the hood? This is generations of proverty,n lack of education. This is a deep hole that we have to climb out of.The world not suppose to be like this, this is a world of evil and misfortune.America rules need to change,n we need to change them.I shouldn’t have to hustle for wat I want, I shouldn’t have to beg for wat I need,Gang banging, saleing drugs n s---is not even neccersary. If anything u gang bang for honor and conquer the land that oppressing you. That mean coming together as a unit n defeating the real enemy, the american way of life, which is color coded.lmmao .
