It’s pretty clear changes are coming down the pipe in Laker-land. And Kobe Bryant appears to be on his way out. But should it be this way? Should Kobe Bryant have to leave the purple-and-gold?

After all, Kobe Bryant is the Los Angeles Lakers. There’s no other way to slice it. Could you really see Kobe in another NBA uniform?

At hoopsVibe, we are presenting another option. What about keeping Bryant in L.A. and trading the entire Buss family, who own the Lakers?

That’ right- keep the all-star and trade the owner. Tell the Buss clan, all eleven of them and their random myspace pages, to take a hike.

Candidate #1: Kobe Bryant, superstar guard for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Quick Resume:

-A three time world champion.
-Considered the world’s most talented basketball player.
-A perennial all-star and member of the All-NBA team.

Reason for Trade: Bryant has requested a deal out of Los Angeles because the team hasn’t had any success in the last few seasons. He’s frustrated with the direction of the team. For what it is worth, the Lakers publicly maintain that Bryant will not be traded.

Candidate #2: Jerry Buss and his entire family, owners of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Quick Resume:

-The long-time owner of the Lakers.
-You also know him as the guy with the ’stash’ who takes the Larry O’Brien trophy from Commissioner Stern when his team wins the NBA Title.
-A rich playboy who gives his children jobs within the organization.

Reason for Trade: Laker fans believe they win NBA Titles in spite of the Buss family and not because of them. Many fans feel Buss is running the team into the ground.

on 06.17.2007		 trade kobe to the east, he aint gonna win in the west if the team he will go to wont have the talent. yeah players get frustrated, but they should not throw tantrums like that. kobe has got superstar talent, but his attitude sucks. just rebuild with the lakers.. the lakers got bynum, so trade kobe for some young guys with great potential and make the right decisions. who knows in the future the lakers will dominate with a young squad, especially that the west are filled with old vetarans. plus kobe wont win in the west with the spurs, suns, mavs, rockets, jazz, warriors and nuggets around.. .

on 06.17.2007		 yo i love kobe....but im getting tired of all the bitching....just let trade him.....from what i hear he want to go to either the suns, bulls or the knicks.....i sure as hell wouldnt trade him to the suns but that might be the only team that can give u anything close to "equal value" as far as players.....i think at this point both sides are better to part ways. .

on 06.16.2007		 Jerry Buss has done a lot for the Lakers but he has been simpy atrocious for the past several years beginning with letting Jerry West walk. That was the beginning of the end.Then Buss allowed Shaq to leave. As much as Laker haters want to blame Kobe, Buss had made up his mind a year prior when Shaq continually whined about his just-signed contract, even though he was in the first year of a very lucrative extension. Shaq’s a baby and Buss was tired of him. Still, the NBA is full of babies - and when you charge $2500 for courtside seats, you look your fans in the eye and say you’ll pay the money and the luxury tax. But Buss is cheap - so Shaq walked.Buss continues to support Mitch Kupchak who has done NOTHING to warrant keeping his job. In all his years on the job, he has drafted ONE player who has turned into a legitimate pro - Luke Walton. He got raped in the Shaq deal. Even under unique circumstances, a lesser GM could’ve gotten more. He traded stud Caron Butler for the ultimate tease - Kwame Brown. And now he’s probably going to trade his next legitimate pro in Bynum and package him in a overvalued deal for J. O’Neal. Incidentally, in J. O’Neal’s first four seasons, he never had ONE season that was HALF as good as the numbers Bynum just put up in his second year. So the Lakers will get 10 years older and give away more players, to spin their wheels with Jermaine O’Neal. Kupchak isn’t totally to blame - he works for a cheap owner. And when an organization is in such disarray as the Lakers, the blame starts at the top. You don’t have to fire the whole Buss family, just JERRY and JIM. Jenie actually has a brain and is the only Buss that could actually make positive improvements on the Lakers at this point. Fire Jerry and Jim Buss - Oh wait you can’t. As a lifetime Lakers fan and now-FORMER season ticket holder, it pains me to see Buss drive the team into the ground. .

on 06.16.2007		 People have been focusing a lot on Kobe, his team mates, Phil, and Buss, for Laker failures.But the real problem is with Kupchak who has taken some terrible decisions over the last 3 years that is still haunting Lakers. I wonder if we would be having this kind of discussion if Butler was never traded for Kwame. I feel Lakers should keep Kobe, he is the most talented Basketball NBA has every seen, he just need 1 or 2 committed team mates to help him out, unfortunately there is none in present Laker team. Getting rid of Smush is a great move. The Lakers should take the broom to even clean up Kuphcak, Cook, Radmanovic, and Kwame. .

on 06.16.2007		 Trade Buss family for the Maloofs. We need serious big-time players over here and they fit the bill of the "hollywood owners". Enough of cheapskating, teen-skirt-chasing, owner with his BUM sons and send them back to taking care of horses and bumming around.Sick and tired of the mismanagement of this franchise. Get rid of Kupchak, he won’t be effective even as a used car salesman if he tried to. .

on 06.16.2007		 trade the buss family. Why should jim or jam (whatever) have a say on the organization? this guy knows nada on basketball! Jeannie has more experience . LOs angeles is kobe town! Im a laker fan and will be a whatever (whereeva kobe goes) fan if kobe leaves! .

on 06.16.2007		 I think Kobe Bryant should go to another team, because he is the one who wants to left the Lakers and he have to go to the team where there’s only one all NBA star player so he could win with that guy the next playoffs.Recomendation: Cavaliers (with Lebron, Kobe could win the season.) .
