Basket-brawl video: Canada and Italy fight in FIBA ’friendly’August 03 09 The only thing missing was Dana White, the UFC Octagon, and fifty million tuning in via pay per view.Yesterday, Canada and Italy held a friendly to supposedly iron-out any kinks before their qualifying tournaments for the 2010 FIBA World Championships in Turkey. Well, the game wasn’t so friendly, regressing into a rugby style scrum with a four minute long pushing match. The problem started when Aaron Doornekamp’s elbow struck Stefano Macinelli, who retaliated with a Carmelo Anthony inspired sucker punch. Madness ensued, with both benches clearing and Toronto’s Andrea Bargnani playing peacemaker. If you cared, Canada lost 81-75. No word on suspensions. However, Commissioner Stern and his lackey at NBA head office (that’s you Stu Jackson) are surely thankful this incident happened on FIBA’s watch. (Let’s get ready to rumble!)
