Golden State trades Maggette to Milwaukee for Bell and Gadzuric
The Milwaukee Bucks traded Dan Gadzuric and Charlie Bell to the Golden State Warriors for Corey Maggette and the 44th pick in the draft.
HoopsVibe`s Very Quick Call: Golden State cuts costs, while Milwaukee is covered if John Salmons leaves as a free agent.
For the Warriors, this trade is about gaining financial flexibility. They save $15 million by swapping the remaining three years and $30 million on Corey Maggette’s contract for Charlie Bell’s two year, $8 million pact and Dan Gadzuric’s expiring deal.
Don’t expect the club to reinvest the money back into their basketball operations. Owner Chris Cohan wants to lighten the payroll to attract new buyers.
Meanwhile, the improving Bucks get a bruising scorer in Maggette, which provides insurance if Salmons signs elsewhere when he opts-out of his contract this summer.
