Rumor: Bulls want Kyle Korver`s shooting next to Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah?
With LeBron James headed to South Beach, the Bulls have begun targeting other players with their cap space.
Chicago has already contacted representatives for Kyle Korver, who new Bull and former Jazz teammate Carlos Boozer endorsed on WMVP-AM 1000.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: The free agent arms race continues.
The Miami Heat has their Big Three in Chris Bosh, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade, while the Chicago Bulls are countering with Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah, and Derrick Rose.
The battle is now for supporting pieces. Shooters, lockdown defenders, interior guys, shot blockers, and cats who get on the glass are in demand.
The Bulls like free agent marksman Kyle Korver because his smooth jumper would spread the floor and punish defenses for double-teaming Boozer and Rose.
For instance, the ball goes inside to Boozer. He attracts multiple defenders and throws it outside to Korver for a jumper. Or Rose penetrates, draws the help defender(s), and kicks to Korver for a spot-up shot.
The inside-outside approach and draw-and-kick formula are simple, but effective ways to playing basketball. Like the pick-and-roll, they are fundamental to the NBA.
Clearly, Korver would fit in The Windy City. And the free agent arms race has moved to the supporting pieces.
