LeBron James to play point guard for Heat?
So a lineup that includes a backcourt of James and Dwyane Wade isn’t missing a point guard. It would feature, arguably, the best point guard in the game. Think about how this would work.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: It makes sense.
Instead of comparing LeBron James to scorers Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant, we must remember he’s a facilitator. The King is an evolved version of Magic Johnson -just like the Los Angeles Lakers’ point guard was an evolved version of Oscar Robertson, the triple-double machine.
What confuses fans is the two-time MVP’s physical gifts. Being an explosive 6-9 and 270, he can score at will.
This, however, isn’t his strength. Thankfully, the Miami Heat know this.
Years ago when his slicked-backed ‘do was the rage, Heat executive Pat Riley coached – and won with – Johnson in Los Angeles. ‘Riles’ knows what he has in James and will wisely plant him at point guard.
After all, James has a terrific basketball IQ. Steve Nash aside, his feel for the game is, perhaps, unmatched and unrivalled in today’s NBA.
