Kevin Durant on USA winning World Championship: ‘B-team huh?’
B-team huh?? Haaaaa we got it done…US, seat pleasant, dc, oklahoma city…we did it for yall..GOLD MEDALIST
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Kevin Durant deserves to puff his chest out –even if it’s pretty tame by superstar standards.
After all, Durant and the 2010 version of Team USA took their lumps. They were dubbed the B-team. They were hit with the J-V label. And they were called second best.
This occurred before Durant and his teammates – who gave up their summer to represent their country – had played a single game.
Few gave them a chance at winning the World Championship. Most thought they’d keep the chair warm for Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade -who skipped out on Turkey, but want to play at the London Olympics in 2012.
Well, Durant and his ensemble cast got revenge. They cruised to the gold medal, silencing the critics and doubters with a team-first approach.
In fact, the 2010 squad was every bit as impressive as their counterparts in 2008. And they absolutely weren’t the B-team.
