Carmelo Anthony: ‘Money’s going to be there. It’s about basketball’

"Money is money. Money’s going to be there," Anthony said. "It’s about basketball." "It’s a big risk," Anthony said about the new CBA. "At the end of the day, it’s about basketball."

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: You may not like how Carmelo Anthony has handled his pending free agency. You have to like that he’ll put his money where his mouth is.

Anthony could lose millions if he forgoes signing an extension with the Denver Nuggets or any other team and opts-out of his contract in July, in order to pick his next team as a free agent.

After all, the current Collective Bargaining Agreement expires next summer. The new system will be more frugal; superstar salaries will be reduced.

So the choice for Anthony is simple: sign now and really get paid or wait nine months, sign with a winner, and still get paid.

The latter sounds better than former. Hopefully, it’s a choice Anthony makes.
