Rumor: Cavaliers open to trading Jamison, Varejao, and Williams?
That said, it should be noted sources have indicated the Cavs are merely getting a feel for the market and creating dialogue. Any trade, it seems, would be a ways away.
If there’s one thing that can be said with a fair amount of certainty, it’s that the Cavs have several players who have drawn some interest, particularly among probable playoff contenders.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Not long ago, Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert declared to fans he’d win an NBA Title before the Miami Heat.
Of course, Gilbert was emotional having just lost his ‘so-called king’ (James) to South Beach –in a circus of interview on ESPN.
Since James’ departure, Cavalier nation has wondered one thing: what now? What path does the team pursue?
For instance, do they add to their core of good but not great veterans like Antwan Jamison, Anderson Varejao, and Mo Williams? Or do they hold a fire sale, trade established assets for cap space and draft picks, and start over?
This is their dilemma. Expect the Cavaliers to try and read the market and then make a decision before February’s trade deadline.
The one, and perhaps only, certainty is that the Cavaliers won’t win an NBA Title before James and the Heat.
