Report: Nuggets and Nets, sort of, agree on Carmelo Anthony trade

The Nets and Nuggets reportedly have reached a tentative agreement on a trade that would send Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey. The deal is pending Anthony’s agreement on a long-term contract extension with the Nets. The trade would send Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Sheldon Williams, Melvin Ely and Renaldo Balkman to New Jersey, and Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh and four first-round draft picks to Denver.

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: We have closure. Or do we?

Reports indicate the Denver Nuggets and New Jersey Nets have tentatively agreed to a massive trade with Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Devin Harris, and Derrick Favors changing sides.

Before this blockbuster becomes official, Anthony and Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov are apparently scheduled to meet in Los Angeles over All-Star weekend.

During their little sit down, Anthony will inquire about the club’s long-term plans, while the Russian billionaire will gauge the three-man’s interest in inking a long-term extension.

If both sides like what they hear, it’s supposedly a go. But few things in the NBA are so simple, especially when dealing Anthony’s fate.

Most are hoping this saga ends this weekend, though, with Anthony finally pulling on a Nets uniform.
