NBA seeking to lockout players, owners want system where 30 teams can profit

NBA owners voted on Thursday to impose a lockout of its players as the clock strikes midnight on July 1st. “Needless to say, we’re disappointed that this is where we find ourselves,” said deputy commissioner Adam Silver.


HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: There will be no checking the Internet for free agent updates on July 1st.  There will be no texting your boys with gossip, opinions, and WTF moments. And there will be no chatter on NBATV.

Instead, you get nothing. Your worst nightmare has come true. The NBA has locked out its players.

Citing a need for all 30 teams to profit and compete for a championship, the NBA announced that its locking out the players.

Then came the mixed messages. Commissioner Stern, representing the league, told the assembled media he wasn’t sure how long the lockout would go on for. Players Union rep Billy Hunter said the two sides would continue negotiating.

Who knows the truth? I do know the league is on hold.
