Kenyon Martin: George Karl should shut up about ‘Melo

"Man, listen, George needs to keep his mouth shut, first and foremost," Martin said. "Melo don’t play there no more. So Karl shouldn’t be commenting on Melo. If George was such a great coach, then Melo would want to stay. He wouldn’t want to leave. "If the organization was ran right, he wouldn’t want to leave, so it ain’t Melo. With Melo, not one time when he was there did he bring that in the locker room when all that stuff was going on. Not one day. Everybody made it a bigger deal than it had to be. That’s a good kid.

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Carmelo Anthony, George Karl, and Kenyon Martin have all had much to say on last year’s Melodrama with the Denver Nuggets.

You remember the saga where Anthony held the Nuggets hostage all year, forcing a blockbuster trade to the New York Knicks in February.

Anthony, Karl, and Martin are all opinionated. And perhaps there’s some truth in each of their perspectives. Bottom line: the NBA is a results orientated business, and the only  barometer of success that matters is victories and defeats.

For whatever reason, the Nuggets are better without Anthony. They have better balance, depth, chemistry, and are committed to getting stops.

Surprisingly, the Knicks may be better without Anthony, too. Mike D’Antoni’s squad, behind the fine play of Jeremy Lin, have rattled off several wins since losing the All-Star to injuries.

Right now, Karl’s Nuggets are getting results. Anthony can’t say much until he starts winning -or contributing to the Knicks’ winning.
